In addition to security, this film had added benefit of protecting your house and family from the everyday accidents from a ball accidently thrown at a window, or a large glass window that someone may run into. Security film is designed to hold the glass together in the event of breakage, without obscuring vision. This film is 12 mil thick, and is used for serious protection - including bomb blast mitigation. Ideally, the film should be installed onto the glass inside the frame. If this is not possible, using clear/white silicone around the edges will help hold the glass into the frame longer if broken.
